Antisocial Personality Disorder

It is a mental condition in which person show no interest in right and wrong matters and show no regard for the good things and ignore the sentiments of others. People with antisocial disorder behave rudely and arrogantly with other people. And they have no feeling of guilt for their rude attitude.

People with this disorder have habit of lying and sometime they break the law and violate the law enforcement and became a criminal. Therefore, they can’t play their role efficiently at work, home and in relationship.

Personality of a person generally made during childhood in which different factors play their roles like emotional, physical attachment with parents, and environmental factors. The main cause of antisocial personality disorder is not known yet but assumption may include:

  • Violent and chaotic family
Complications

Complications of antisocial personality disorder include:

  • Death during childhood due to violence
  • Mental health damage
  • Having anxiety and panic attacks
  • Homicidal and suicidal behavior

  • Neglecting behavior towards family

Most often people with antisocial disorder does not realize that they have a mental problem, they refuse to take treatment. Your doctor may diagnosis this disorder by noticing following signs and symptoms:

Treatment

Treatment is very difficult for patient who resist the close follow-up and proper treatment. Long- term treatment may help some people who are serious about their health and want to cure their mental illness. Treatment options include:

  • Your doctor may prescribe the anti-anxiety and antidepressant to reduce your signs and symptoms although there is no any specific medication available for antisocial personality disorder.
  • It may help to reduce your anger and violence behavior. If signs and symptoms are severe then psychotherapy may not be effective.
