Adrenal glands are small glands which are present at the top of your kidneys they secreted hormones which give information to almost every organ of your body. Benign tumors are nonmalignant tumor develop as the mass in the glands.
Each gland consist of two part outer cortex and inner medulla. Tumor develop in Cortex called adrenal adenomas and those arise in medulla called pheochromocytoma.
Symptoms
Generally they produce no sign and symptoms but some secrete increase level of hormones which produce the complications and symptoms. Over secretion of aldosterone most commonly occur.
Causes
Exact causes of bening adrenal tumor is still unknown.
Diagnosis
For diagnostic purpose your doctor may recommend the following tests:
- Imaging test to check the metastasis of tumor
- Ultrasound to detect the growth of tumor
- Blood test to check the total blood count
- 24-urine test to check the certain substance which are of important in diagnosis of certain tumors
Treatment
Surgery is the first line treatment of benign tumors to reduce the risk of development of cancer.
