Supraventricular Tachycardia
It is defining as the heart abnormalities which involved the fast rhythm of heart which is produce above the ventricles. It is also knowing as paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. Normal heart beat 60-100 beats per minute. Tachycardia occurs when heart beat exceed from the 100 beats per minute. It is occurred due to the abnormal electrical activity at AV nodes.
Symptoms
Signs and symptoms appeared intermittently during the attacks, which includes:
- Chest pain
- Sweating
- Dizziness
- Headaches
- Shortness of breath
- Fainting
- Palpitations
Causes
There are many causes of tachycardia which include:
- Psychological stress
- Lack of sleep
- Lack of exercise
- Thyroid problems
- Heart disease
- Smoking
- Alcohol abuse
- Drug abuse
- Surgery
- Pregnancy
Complications
Mild signs and symptom does not cause any serious complications but moderate and serious symptoms may cause the complications of left untreated like heart failure and it also weaken the heart muscles and developed the other disease of heart.

After taking your medical history and family history your doctor may perform the precordial examination and recommend the following test to rule out the other causes of tachycardia:
- To check the heart structure and motion
- To check the electrical activity of heart
- Portable device to check the ECG during the routine work
- Stress test. To check any physical abnormality in heart
Treatment
Mild disease does not require any proper treatment but severe disease may require the treatment which include:
- Vagal maneuver
- Carotid sinus massage
- Cardioversion
- Medications help to reduce the tachycardia
